Baseball / Softball Tryout Dates

Baseball and softball tryouts will be on Saturday March 7th and Sunday March 15th. Please see the Signup Genius link for all available times/slots for each league.

Hello Holden Baseball/Softball Families!

We are pleased to announce that the Holden Baseball/Softball Spring tryouts for the 2020 season will take place on Saturday 03/07/20 and Sunday 03/15/20.  The time slots for each league are shown below. Each tryout slot is 30 minutes, and each 30 minute slot is limited to 16 players. This allows us to effectively manage the flow of players in and out of the tryout. 

TRYOUT WINDOWS:

  • SOFTBALL: Saturday 03/07/20 10AM-12PM, and Sunday 03/15/20 2PM-4PM
  • BASEBALL: Saturday 03/07/20 1PM-4PM, and Sunday 03/15/20 10AM-1PM

NOTE: THE SIGNUP WINDOWS ARE CLEARLY MARKED AS "BASEBALL" AND "SOFTBALL". PLEASE ENSURE YOU SIGNUP FOR THE CORRECT LEAGUE TRYOUT.

TRYOUT DETAILS:

  • WHERE?: Indoor Tryouts are held at the CRA Hit Center at the Holden Baseball complex, 459 Main St, Holden MA
  • WHO SHOULD TRYOUT?:
    • BASEBALL: Any baseball player with birthdates between 09/01/2007 and 08/31/2012 who did NOT play LL-Majors baseball last Spring season
      • Any player in this date range who already played on a LL-Majors baseball team in Spring 2019 does NOT need to tryout again
    • SOFTBALL: Any girl registered for Little League Softball ages 9-12, -OR- any girl who is registered for instructional softball and currently LL-8 (born in 2011), looking to move up to minors and who has played at least two years of instructional softball or baseball. 
  • HOW?: Signup for ONE (and only one) half hour tryout slot of your choosing, and report to the Hit Center 10 minutes prior to your time slot for check-in
  • WHAT DO I NEED?: your glove, your bat (if you have one), your helmet (if you have one), and a positive attitude!
    • You also need to be REGISTERED for Spring Baseball/Softball (visit holdenbaseball.com to register) prior to the tryout date
  • WHAT HAPPENS?: your player will participate in a hitting station, a fielding station, and a pitching station
  • WHY?: Tryouts help us ensure that your player is placed at the correct level of play and helps to ensure a fun and positive playing experience for the season.
    • NOTE FOR BASEBALL: Players who are LL-8 (09/01/2011 thru 08/31/2012) are not eligible for the AAA baseball draft without a tryout!

Holden Baseball has many opportunities for new volunteers. Please stop in at a Board Meeting on the First Tuesday of each month (September through June) at 7:00 PM at either the CRA Hit Center or Alden Labs.
